What is a Ouija board?

Some people regard Ouija boards as 'evil' yet they continue to be sold in shops alongside Scrabble and Monopoly as a game. This is where many of the problems begin. The Ouija Board has been used both as a toy and as a means of receiving messages or answers to questions. There has been discussions about does the Ouija bored actually communicate with the dead or not. Yet According to Harper's Encyclopedia of Mystical and Paranormal Experience, a Ouija is a "board and pointer used for divination and by some as a means to contact spirits or entities." Whether or not if it actually works or not, it brings much excitement and amusement when a group is assembled for an evening. The Ouija Board consists of a flat board approximately eighteen inches wide and thirty inches long, with a very smooth surface. On the sides of bored it says “yes” and “no”. The “no” is on the right side, and the “yes” is on the left. On the surface the letters of the alphabet are printed, beginning on the left with "A" and running in two arched rows across the board. And the numbers zero through nine are below that. At the bottom of the board is the sentence, "Good Bye." More complicated boards may have other sentences in addition to the one suggested here. Player’s place their fingertips on the pointer, called a plantchee, and ask questions that are answered as the message indicator moves around the board. The planchette or three-legged table about one-inch high and shaped in the form of a heart about six inches long. Near the tip of the planchette is a round hole about the size of a silver dollar and covered with transparent material. In the center of this hole is an opening through which a pin is suspended. The table is equipped with felt pads on each leg to make movement as easy as possible. To use the bored, two people sit facing each other and rest the board on their knees. (Or they can put it on a table) Both of them put their fingertips gently on top of the plantchee. They remain quiet and ask the board a question and concentrate hard. Usually you have to sit and wait for about five minutes before it starts to move, but soon enough it will move over the letters and spell out the answer to the question you asked. So good luck and now you can try the Ouija board for yourself.
